We Aren't Ignoring The Amare-to-the-Bulls Rumors

I am just trying not to get caught up in it until I hear something substantive. Like a confirmed source saying that Paxson and Kerr have been talking. Until then, don't forget Garnett, Pau, Kobe, Marion, Wade, and the countless others we were in trade talks for. Or just go play with the ESPN Trade Machine and start a rumor all your own!

Oh who am I kidding, I have been totally caught up in it. I even made the salaries work:

Seriously, it's obvious that we want this trade. Pairing Amare with Rose would be awesome, that goes without saying. More about this as the story develops.

The Suns would rather take four successful investment bankers with similar salaries to make the money match up. Who started this ridiculous rumor?

The Suns would actually have some interest in a trade like this I think. I remember Kerr used to always say Hinrich was the next Nash when he'd broadcast the Bulls games on TNT. Hinrich's also a very good defender and that's something the Suns have significantly lacked: defense. That's also what Thabo brings to the table so well, and Noah's improving there as well.

Anyway, Amare's almost surely going somewhere and the Bulls might make the most sense. The Suns get some better defense in there, clear a lot of cap space over the next couple years, and I'd imagine get a 1st round draft pick or two in this deal. You'd think they'd want at least one legitimate player they can have as a part of their future though: Deng, Aldridge, Beasley, etc.

You guys should ask for a Suns fan's perspective from my buddy(real life buddy even)Ben at Ben's Suns Blog.

He's also got a couple sources he's been getting some good scoops on about this and he knows more about the Suns than anybody on the planet.

He's written a lot about this subject... he pretty much hates Amare more than anybody on the planet due to his lack of effort on the defensive end and on the boards, his lack of leadership, etc. I understand all that and that's stuff that would likely drive us crazy as well, but it's still a 20/10 guy that's 26 years old. Those guys are hard to come by. Sign me the hell up bitches!

I guess I just don't see the Suns building around defense, especially with defenders who struggle on offense. I could see Kerr getting Hinrich for Barbosa, but the rest of the players in this proposed trade boggle my mind.

Also, this isn't the proposed deal right? The pic is just something SN used to make the salaries match up.

This is what Chad Ford had today:

"Tyrus Thomas, Thabo Sefolosha, Cedric Simmons and Drew Gooden...

For the Suns, this trade would save them nearly $9 million next season and give them two young players with potential. Although neither Thomas nor Sefolosha has shined the way the Bulls had envisoned when they drafted them, their defensive abilities and athleticism would be welcome in Phoenix."

Wow...I'm obviously not much of an NBA guy, but this trade just looks awful for the Suns.

I don't think anyone is saying its good for the suns, they are just unhappy with amare and are trying to move him. The Bulls are one of the 4 or 5 teams that can offer a decent package of youth, expiring contracts and picks for him.
