- Cubs won't offer salary arbitration to Kerry Wood or Bob Howry. That means neither will return and Cubs fans will miss them. Well, one of them.
- Dusty Dvoracek is out for the season with a ruptured right biceps. Uh, ouch.
- Weis tells a recruit that he is returning as Notre Dame's coach. Then points out the window, asks "what's that" and steals kid's brownie.
- Northwestern advances to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Soccer Tournament. Little cold for soccer, no?
- White Sox and Reds talking trade involving Jermaine Dye. "Hey what about that Griffey guy?"
- 'Rak-key? Hawks are trying to get Obama to attend the Winter Classic between the Hawks and Wings. I'll take his spot if he turns it down!

Today's Links
- Looks like Vasher is out for the year. He wasn't exactly playing well, but any lost depth in the secondary is bad news
- Charlie Weis is fat. Oh yeah, and he's still employed, barely, after losing to USC (and pretty much everyone else).
- Some 2009 Cubs schedule news. I will go into this 2009 schedule at some point later, but check out BCB's notes.
- Ryan Theriot got the great baseball triple-double: errors, double-plays and caught stealings. And don't even get me started on tootblans.
- Bulls big win last night left them 3-4 on the Circus Trip. Possibly the best 3-4 ever. December should be a breeze.
- So some Spanish site linked NQTC, so what? That's not really global, you say? Well how about if a Polish site links us?

- Larry Hughes hits a jumper at the buzzer to give the Bulls a win over the Jazz. Yep, Larry Hughes.
- Is the NHL gaining in the popularity contest against the NBA? Stormin' Norman hopes not; I don't see what has taken so long.
- So being a gigantic sports nerd, I actually stated that I wanted to see this happen before I died. The Cards tried it and totally screwed it up.
- A lengthy article about how bad Northwestern sucks at basketball. It just takes a lot of time to capture the magnitude of the crappiness.
- Should he stay or should he go? A couple of views on the future of Charlie Weis at Notre Dame.
- When Ozzie talks, people listen. The Sox manager will not miss Nick Swisher.

- Piniella wins the NL Manager of the Year award. Here's his reaction.
- ESPN could not reach...ESPN?...for comment on a story regarding the new BCS deal. Ha.
- Orton is back in Bears practice. His status for this weekend is uncertain, but the Neckbeard is 100% healthy.
- Notre Dame AD says that Charlie Weis' job is safe. Um, yeah, he's white.
- Will Dempster be a casualty of a Peavy trade to the Cubs? Not necessarily.
- John Hollinger's ratings are out and as usual he loves the Bulls. Notice how they are actually 10th in the East, but are ranked 11th overall by JH.
- Tons of injuries in this week's Michigan-Northwestern game. Sports Information interns are drawing up an index for the injury reports.

- Kyle Orton is optimistic he'll play in Green Bay this week. Playing through the injury; so Favre-y.
- Northwestern will move wide receiver Jeravin Matthews to running back because Omar Conteh is out for the season. Northwestern is averaging a season-ending injury per game.
- Is Charlie Weis on the hot seat? If so, I hope it's steel reinforced.
- Greg Couch is on my list, calls for the end of all things Rex Grossman. Classic case of cannon envy.
- A dispute after the LSU-Alabama game leads to the death of two Bama fans. Same thing almost happened to me after the Lions swept the Bears last season.
- To the bunker! Paint the Town Orange reacts to the Illinois loss to Western Michigan.
- The guys at Fire Joe Morgan are on red alert!
