Cubs Pick up Option on Harden

The Cubs picked up the option on pitcher Rich Harden's contract today. That means $7 million for Rich next year. Hendry will be talking about the decision later today, but it should go something like "he is really really good and we hope to the Cub-hating God that he stays healthy."

The Cubs were awaiting the results of a shoulder exam before making their decision. The tests showed that Harden would not require surgery to repair the shoulder, just lots of luck.
