Will the Madden Cover Jinx Impact the Bears?

It looks like the Bears might actually be hit by the jinx that relates to the player on the cover of the annual Madden NFL video game. If you have seen a picture of this year's Madden cover it has Brett Favre(in Packers jersey, hilarious) on it. So you may be wondering how this can impact the Bears, when it looks like only the Cheeseheads and New Jersey Jets fans need to worry.

Well, it looks like more bad news may be coming for the offensive line that has already been hit by injury before our 2nd preseason game. Over the weekend the Chicago Tribune reported, " Right guard Roberto Garza looks to be the cover boy for the Spanish version of Madden 2009, which has a scheduled release date of Sept. 16.Garza is idolized in the Mexican community ....., so it's no surprise his image was picked for the popular video game. The Bears just hope it's a blessing, not a curse."

I don't think that Bear's fans need to worry that much because there is really no way possible for the offensive line to get any worse or for Garza to have worse year than he did last year. The reason that he is on the cover of Madden en espanol and is so beloved in his home country is not because of his poor play but because of his consistent charity work. One interesting note is that Garza is actually American, having been born in Rio Hondo, Texas he is the son of Mexican immigrants.

My assesment is that due to the feel-good nature of his reason for being on the Mexican Madden cover, there will be a reverse jinx and the Bear's offensive line will be the key to a not-great-but-not-terrible year from the Bear's offense.

it'd be so sweet to play madden and draft garza #1 overall for my franchise at a 99 overall rating
